"Barley two hours later he again looked into the eyes of the woman called Konala... wishing he had never seen or heard of her." (Walk Well My Brother, Mowat)
... In the story "Walk Well My Brother" by Farley Mowat, manipulation can be seen. The character, Charlie, who is a white man is manipulated by the stereotype of this Inuit woman named Konala. As seen in the quote, after only two hours of knowing her he wishes he had never seen nor heard of her. This type of manipulation falls under the Quotation 1 type because it is a personal type of manipulation and not someone forcibly changing another's motivations to acquire something for themselves. My flash fiction relates to the Quotation 2 type of manipulation.
An example of Charlie and Konala from the story "Walk Well My Brother" by Farley Mowat.
