"This perky voice on her feed said, Hi! I'm Nina, your personal FeedTech shopping assistant! Tired of that gross-out smell in your mouth? Try FreshGorge Glottal Deodorant -- your boyf will thank you big-time!" (Feed, Anderson, 106)

... The type of manipulation that the novel Feed demonstrates is the type of manipulation conveyed in quotation two. Feed is about how society is manipulated by advertisers and businesses to buy their product. The setting of the novel takes place in a time in the future, where all people except for a few have a feed installed into their head. This is basically a computer placed in their head at a young age that allows for them to find information and communicate with others using their minds. A character named Violet does not have the feed installed. This disallows her from receiving the constant advertisements from the feed, that all others do receive. Because of this, Violet understands that the feed system is simply for companies to advertise their products to society and the manipulation that these companies are doing.
This conveys the type of manipulation from quote two because it is a group of people using others and getting into their thoughts, just to gain something for themselves.
This type of manipulation is shown in the poetry selection, Manipulation by Trevor Thompson. In his poem, it describes someone who is right in front of you and disguised, as in they are hiding who they really are.
This type of manipulation is also conveyed in my flash fiction story, The Not So Good Friends. In this story, Ernie and Frank trick Chris into stealing the key so that they can take the sports equipment for themselves.
